Srinagar, Sept 4 : Train services in the Kashmir valley were resumed this morning after remaining suspended for two days as precautionary measure, a railway official said. 'We have resumed all train runs since early this morning on all tracks,' he told . He said train runs resumed on Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north this morning after remaining suspended for two days in view of the Eid-ul-Azha festival. Similarly, trains will also chug on Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region, he added. He said the service was resumed in the valley following green signal from the civil and police authorities. The service was suspended too on their advice, he said. However, due to frequent suspension of railways for security reasons, the railway department has suffered massive losses. Besides, the passenger had also to face lot of problems. Train service has become very popular as it is being considered safe, fast and cheap in the valley, where frequent traffic jam for hours has become a daily routine. Last month, when there were about over half-a-dozen encounters in the valley, particularly in south Kashmir, train service remained suspended for security reasons frequently. Railways property suffered heavy damage during demonstrations in the valley. During 2016, the rail service remained suspended for six months due to summer unrest. UNI
