Kargil,
Sept 18: The two-day ‘Salam Kargil’ event, scheduled to be held here from
tomorrow to increase the footfall of tourists, has been postponed till the
second week of November due to commencement of Muharram. Officials said that
the two-day event was earlier proposed to be held on September 19 and September
20, but had to be posted on account of the religious festival. They said that
the event, in which prominent artistes from all over the country are scheduled
to perform, will now be held in the second week of November. However, they said
exact date of the event will be announced later. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir
Legislative Council chairman Haji Inayat Ali said that such an event is going
to be held for first time in the history of Ladakh. “Prominent artistes of the
country, including Nizami brothers, will be performing and Ankit Chaddha, the
renowned Dastangoi, will present a programme. Many artistes from Jammu and
Kashmir and the country are also likely to participate in the event,” he added.
Mr Ali has directed the district officers to ensure full support to the event
to make it a success in the history of Ladakh. The Chairman also directed the
organisers to give the event a wide publicity at local, state, national and
international level to attract large number of tourist from across the country
and abroad. UNI
