Delhi, Sept 18: The Government has appointed senior IPS officer YC Modi as
the Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA), According to
statement of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) Mr Modi, a 1984
batch police officer, has been appointed to succeed Sharad Kumar who will
retire on October 30. He will be the NIA chief till his superannuation that is
31 May, 2021. 'The appointments committee of the Cabinet has approved the
proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for appointment of Mr YC Modi, IPS
(AM: 1984) as Director General (DG), National investigation Agency with pay at
level 16 of the pay matric for a period up to the date of his superannuation,
i.e, 31-05-2021, from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until
further orders whichever is earlier vice Sharad Kumar, IPS (HY: 1979) (retd) on
completion of his tenure on 30-10-2017. The ACC has also approved the
appointment of Mr YC Modi as OSD in NIA with immediate effect, to ensure smooth
takeover of responsibilities in NIA,'a DoPT release said. The Government also
appointed Rajni Kant Misra as Director General Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). Mr
Misra, a 1984 IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre will hold the position till
his superannuation that is August 30, 2019. He has been appointed to succeed
Archana Ramasundram whose tenure completes on September 30. UNI
