Srinagar, Sept 28: Security forces have been launched a fresh search operation on Thursday morning in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, where a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was killed and four of his relatives injured in a militant attack. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly condemned the killing of BSF jawan, who was posted in Rajasthan and had come for vacation. Official sources said that Army, Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint search operation early morning on Thursday in more villages in Hajin area of Bandipora district. All exit points were sealed and search operation was going on when the reports last came in, they said adding so far no contact was established with militants. They said security forces launched the search operation to nab the militants responsible for the killing of BSF jawan Rameez Ahmad Parray. Sources said, a group of four militants entered the house of Parray at Hajin in Bandipora, about 50 km from here on Wednesday night. However, when the militants tried to kidnap Parray, who had come for vacation only few days ago, other family members resisted and raised an alarm. Militants resorted to indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons on the inmates resulting in on the spot death of Parray and injuries to four others. The injured, father of Parray, two brothers and aunt, were rushed to local hospital from where they have been referred to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), where the condition of one of them (aunt) is stated to be critical. Security forces who rushed to the spot immediately after the incident from nearby camps sealed the entire village and nearby areas. However, after a long search the operation was called off on late night on Wednesday. This was the first such incident after Army officer Lieutenant Ummer Fayaz was kidnapped and later killed in Shopian district of South Kashmir in May this year. However, later Army and other security force agencies besides police issued advisory to all their men to take extra precautions while visiting their homes in Kashmir. Even during the Eid-ul-Azha, police and security personnel were advised to offer Eid prayers in safe places. Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter the working president of National Conference (NC) Mr Abdullah said “ What a terrible incident. This is abominable. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Rameez Parrey. Hope the injured recover soon." UNI
