Sept 5: Security forces launched a massive search operation in a number of
villages in south Kashmir district of Shopian since early this morning,
official sources said today. They said following a tip off about the presence
of some militants, 44 Rashitriya Rifles (RR), 14 Central Reserve Police Force
(CRPF) and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched
search operation in six villages in Imam Sahib and Zainpora, Shopian this
morning. Sources told UNI, the villages which were sealed by security forces
included Dachoo, Nagbal, Nolai Poshwar, Urpara, Homehuna and Hushunpora. All
exit points in these villages were plugged and a massive search operation was
launched, they said, adding the residents had been directed to remain indoor.
Sources said large number of security forces and state police personnel had
been deployed outside these villages to prevent any demonstration. However, so
far no contact was established with the militants, they said. UNI
