Sep 2: A top Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed in an encounter in
south Kashmir's Kulgam district today, official sources said. They said on a
tip-off, security forces conducted a search operation at Tantraypora, Kulgam.
However, when the security forces were sealing the area, the militants hiding
there opened fire, the sources said, adding that the fire was returned and in
the encounter, a militant was killed. The slain militant was identified as
Ashfaq Padroo of LeT, who was involved in the killing of Lieutenant Umar Fayaz
when he was on leave. One AK-47 rifle and other arms and ammunition were
recovered from the slain militant. Security forces described it a very big
