Agartala,
Sep 16: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar held Prime Minister Narendra
Modi’s policy responsible for making poor to poorer and rich to the richer in
the nation ignoring rural India. While addressing a rally in his constituency
in Sonamura of West Tripura yesterday Sarkar said, “If the rural India cannot
develop, it would be hard enough to develop the nation as a whole. We have 70
per cent of the people in the nation living in the rural areas that are currently
deprived at large as they have no financial independence.” “The centre is
responsible for this as it takes rules with large share in the states,” Sarkar
said adding in last three and half years rule of Modi government at the centre,
the poor people of the nation are deprived at large as the government at the
centre has made false promise of ‘Acche Din’. The price of essential
commodities has been rising at an alarming rate in the country in every passing
day followed by the cut in ration foods, increasing of unemployment. Besides,
talking tough on the centre, Sarkar said, “Showing a dream of separate state to
the tribals here in our state, the centre is trying to divide the tribals and
the non-tribals and break their unity.” There was hardly any attention to
develop this region during the British rule. Regrettably, the attitude of Union
Government in the last 68 years of Independence has also not been very
encouraging, Sarkar added. UNI
