Agartala,
Sep 1: To resolve the ongoing controversy between the Centre and state
over flow of fund, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee president Birajit Sinha
demanded publication of a ‘white paper’ detailing central funding including
sponsored schemes to the state. He said left front government in its 25 years
tenure never ever expressed satisfaction or found happiness with the Centre so
far as funding to the state was concerned. “It appeares to be an inherent
character of the leftists in Tripura to be always dissatisfied with the support
and fund given by the central government but they never accept their failure .
On the other hand the Centre has a standing complaint against Tripura of not
utilising fund or submission of utilisation certificate on time,” Sinha stated.
'Whenever union ministers come to Tripura even they make allegations of
non-utilisation of funds sanctioned for various centrally sponsored schemes by
the state government, which has become a political exercise in the state. “ We
need clarification on the issue to dispel all confusion on the matter. We
demand the Centre should come out with a white paper detailing the fund flow
and to the state and details of utilisation have been submitted by Tripura
government,” Sinha pointed out. He further alleged that Prime Minister Awas
Yojana scheme for housing for the poor was not being properly implemented in
Tripura as there was defective and motivated selection of beneficiaries by the
party in power. “There is no doubt that the scheme is good but success of a
scheme depends wholly on implementation at the ground level,” Sinha said adding
that Congress would organise demonstrations in front of all civic bodies to
press for impartial selection of beneficiaries and effective implementation of
the scheme. He expressed dismay over the critical waterlogging situation in
Agartala and other towns of the state whenever there is a rain and said, “It
shows the failure of the civic bodies; they must be seek a permanent solution
to the problem.” Sinha, however, accused BJP of occupying the party offices of
Congress across the state. UNI
