Delhi, Sept 30: Jagdish Mukhi, who was on Saturday appointed Governor of
Assam, is a veteran in Delhi politics. Mr Mukhi, who entered active politics
since in 1975 has been representing Janak Puri constituency continuously from
1980 and has won seven times from the same constituency. He had earlier held
the portfolios of Finance, Planning, Excise and Taxation and Higher Education
in the Delhi Government. He was the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly
from 1998-2008. At present, he is the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and
Nicobar Islands. UNI
