Govt intends to
establish 15 new colleges in State: Altaf Bukhari
SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 16: A week-long, National workshop on 'Skill Development and
Entrepreneurship' today commenced at Institute of Advanced Studies in
Education (IASE), MA Road here.
Around
40 participants from various universities of Jammu and Kashmir will participate
in the workshop which is being sponsored by the Cluster University.
The Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari who was the Chief Guest
on the occasion praised the university authorities for organizing such workshop
and choosing a theme which, he said, was important in the present times.
“Through these workshops, a
participant gets a chance to put forward his opinion which leads to the better
understanding of any issue,” Bukhari said.
While speaking about the bringing improvement in education sector, the Minister
said the government intends to establish 15 new colleges in the various
uncovered areas of J&K that will cater to needs of students in those areas.
Praising the long service of Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, the
Minister said that institute has been contributing to the education since last
seven decades. He said, the institution caters not only to the academic needs
of school education but co-curricular and vocational aspects as well.
The organizers informed that the workshop will deliberate upon the various
topics including learning about skills for entrepreneurship, imparting
knowledge about local skills and entrepreneurship forming a part of state
industry, learning about opportunities and challenges in natural dyeing,
highlighting importance and composition of Pashmina wool, developing skill of
Pashmina processing and weaving and other concerned topics.
On the occasion, Bukhari also felicitated students with certificates and
mementos for securing positions in the photo competition, on the theme “Right
Click” which was held in September.
The students who were adjudged as best debaters in inter-college debate were
also felicitated by the Minister.
Later, Minister
inaugurated photo exhibition in the college which was supervised by
Contemporary Artist, Arshid Sualeh.
Annual Research
Journal of Institute of Advanced Studies in Education “Research Compendium” was
also released on the occasion.
On the occasion,
Vice Chancellor Cluster University Srinagar (CUS), Prof. Sheikh Javid Ahmed,
Registrar CUS, Prof. Mohammad Yaseen, Controller CUS, Mumtaz Ali, Workshop
Coordinator, Prof. Seema Naz, Principals from various colleges and other
concerned officials of education department were present.
The resource
persons for workshop include Prof. (Dr) P.K Mishra from IIT (BHU), Varanasi,
Dr. Anu Mishra (IICT) Bhadohi, Prof. (Dr) Sarfaraz Ahmad Wani from SKUAST
Kashmir, Dr Syed Maqbool Geelani from IASE and Technical Expert, Aijaz Ahmad
Shah.
