RAJOURI, OCTOBER 10: The second day of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Week- Daughters of New India’ celebration was marked by series of rallies involving girl students, anganwari workers/helpers and ASHAs, poster, slogan-writing, drawing & painting competitions on theme of ‘save girl child’ in this border district.
At district headquarter town, District Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary flagged off a grand rally of school going girls in presence of SSP Yougal Manhas, Additional  SP Mohammad Yousaf, District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Khabir and DEPO Gulzar Hussain.
The rally started from DC office Complex and after passing through main town areas via Abdullah Bridge, culminated back at the starting point. 
The rally witnessed huge participation of girl students from GHSS Rajouri, GMS Rajouri, Himalayan Education Mission and International HSS. Participants carried placards with slogans “Har Beti Ki Yahi Pukar, Hamare Jeevan Main Aye Sudhar”, “A Girl Child Brings Joy, She is Not Less Than Boy” and “AAJ ki Nari Sabh Pe Bhari”. 
Similar rallies involving Anganwari workers/helpers and ASHAs were also organized under the supervision of PO ICDS Mohammad Rashid and CMO Suresh Sharma to sensitize the community about the importance of girl child. Rallies of girl students were also held in all the sub-divisions of the district.
Meanwhile, debates and symposiums were held on the topics of importance of female child, sex selection and discrimination against girl and challenges of decreasing child sex ratio were held in schools and ICDS Centers. Painting and drawing competitions were also organized on the occasion.
