Three fidayeen of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and a BSF jawan were killed and two security personnel were injured in the encounter.
Security forces and state police personnel have established a naka at Hyderpora on airport road, less than half-a-kilometer from encounter site. They were searching passenger and other vehicles, besides two wheelers, which were coming into the city from central Kashmir district of Budgam.
Officials said that the documents and identification cards of the people coming into the city were being thoroughly checking, before allowing them into the summer capital, Srinagar.
Security forces have also established checkpoints at various places on the bypass, where police personnel were searching vehicles and checking identity cards of commuters before allowed them in the city.
They said the searches were being conducted to foil any attempt by militants to smuggle in arms and ammunition into city and carry out attacks on security force installations.
Additional security forces have been deployed in other areas, including civil lines and uptown. UNI
