Asks engineers to complete schemes in set time frame
to benefit people
ANANTNAG, OCTOBER 5: Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary
today during his extensive tour of Anantnag district laid the foundation stone
of three Water Supply Scheme's including WSS Chirhama-Bonagam, WSS
Kachipora-Baghatpora and WSS Levdora-Kuchipora. The Minister also inspected various
PHE installations in the district during his tour.
The Minister was accompanied by MLA Devsar, Mohammad Amin Bhat, District
Development Commissioner Anantnag Mohammad Younis Malik, ADC Anantnag, Chief
Engineer PHE Kashmir G M Bhat, SE Hydraulic and other officers of PHE and
I&FC department.
At Chirhama, Sham Choudhary laid the foundation stone of WSS Chirhama-Bonagam
which is being funded under NABARD. The WSS having the capacity of 50000
gallons will be benefiting 3 habitations catering to 1910 souls. The project
shall be completed in two working seasons at an estimated cost of Rs 2.49
crore.
Later the Minister inspected the overhead tank being constructed at Zadoora. He
directed the concerned engineers to ensure the supply of potable water to the
people of 3 habitations within a month.
Meanwhile, he
also directed the concerned officer to submit the list of those families who
have donated land to the Department along with the revenue extracts so that the
families could be rehabilitated.
Speaking
on the occasion, the Minister said that government is seriously contemplating
on providing employment to those families who have provided land to the
different PHE schemes. He said that in this direction, the department has already
uploaded the details of the beneficiaries online.
The Minister
later laid the foundation of WSS Kachipora-Baghatpora and WSS Levdora-Kuchipora
which are also being funded under NABARD and shall be completed in two seasons
at an estimated cost of Rs 2.70 crore and Rs 1.91 crore respectively. These two
schemes will be catering 7 habitations including Kachipora, New Colony Nipora,
Baghat Colony, Amanpora, Levdora, Kuchipora, Sransoo Shampora and Drenin
Daulatabad.
At Chowgam,
the Minister assured the locals that their long-term demand of providing them
drinking water will be fulfilled shortly. He directed the concerned engineer to
prepare a DPR in this regard.
Sham Choudhary directed the officers of the PHE
department to ensure the completion of these water supply schemes in set time
frame so that people are provided potable drinking water at the earliest. He
asked the officers to work more diligently and in a transparent manner to
achieve the positive results thus proving benefits to the people of the state with
adequate supply of drinking water.
