Darjeeling, Oct 14: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha
(GJM) has accused the Mamata Banerjee Government of hatching a 'conspiracy' to
eliminate GJP supremo Bimal Gurung. In a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath
Singh yesterday, the GJM alleged that the Trinamool Congress Government in West
Bengal was out to eliminate Bimal Gurung to end the statehood agitation and
sought immediate Central intervention to convene a tripartite talk with
invitation to Mr Gurung. Former chairman of Gorkha Territorial Administration
(GTA) and GJM's central committee member Lopsang Lama in a letter to Mr Singh
said the State Government was 'using' its policemen along with Central forces
to eliminate Mr Gurung in a bid to stop the ongoing statehood agitation in the
hills. The letter alleged that some 30/40 police vehicles with around 200 West
Bengal police personnel, aided by Central forces, raided Patlebas and Tukvar at
0300 hours on Friday to arrest or eliminate Mr Gurung, " falsely
implicated' under various Sections, including UAPA Act, sedition and other
charges. The policemen also opened fire to scare away the innocent villagers
and create a fear-psychosis among the people supporting the statehood
agitation, the letter stated. UNI
