Agartala, Oct 30: Bharatiya Janata Mahila Morcha, women's wing of BJP today condemned the attack on its vice-president Barnali Goswami by policemen during a CITU-BMS clash at Dharmanagar two days ago. BJP Mahila Morcha alleged that the policemen led by Rakhal Mitra, OC of Dharmanagar police station had resorted to lathi charge when the Mahila Morcha leaders reached Dharmanagar ISBT to intervene into the clash between CITU and BMS supporters. The state vice president of Mahila Morcha Barnali Goswami was injured in the lathi charge. Protesting the incident, they staged rallies and burnt effigy of Chief Minister Manik Sarkar at Agartala and Dharmanagar last evening. Condemning the incident, state president of Mahila Morcha Papia Datta alleged, “The Constitutional and Human rights of women leaders were violated in the incident. The uniformed police personnel favoured the CITU backed goons instead of playing an impartial role during the violence.” She informed that the matter was reported to National Commission for Women and the National Human Rights Commission.
