Chairman LC for early completion of lift water supply schemes in Kargil

KARGIL, OCTOBER 26: Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, in presence of Chief Executive Councilor Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, today convened a meeting to review the works being carried out in PHE, I&FC and power sectors in Kargil.

The meeting also reviewed the status of lift water supply schemes under execution in the district. Highlighting the importance of the schemes, the Chairman impressed upon the concerned officers to ensure their timely completion by fulfilling all the infrastructure requirements before the onset of the winter season.

Functioning of lift irrigation at Baroo, Gond-Mangalpore, Shilikchey, Kurbathang, Ando among other schemes were also discussed in the meeting.

Underlining the importance of early start to the said schemes, the Chairman directed the Executive Engineer Mechanical Division and Executive Engineer Electric M&RE to ensure inauguration of the Shilikchey water supply scheme by November 15, 2017. The officers were also directed to test the second stage of the Kurbathang Lift Irrigation scheme and complete its foundation work. It was decided that the first stage of the project will also be inaugurated on November 15.

The Chairman also directed for early completion of tendering process for procurement of pumps for Ando, Mulbekh and other lift water supply schemes in the district. 

Executive Engineer, Electric M&RE, was directed to provide power supply to water supply scheme Ando, Mulbekh as well as to submersible pumps at Lotsum and Pashkum. He was further directed to work in close coordination with the Executive Engineer I&FC Kargil to expedite operability of submersible pumps at Saliskote and New Bus Stand Kargil.

The Chairman further directed the Executive Engineer, Electric M&RE, to ensure provision of power facilities for the Umba area. He was also asked to submit the requirement details of poles, connectors, insulators and conductors within three days and procure the required material in time in order that the power facilities to the area can be provided at an earliest.

Officers of the Power department were also directed to provide additional poles for lift water supply scheme Gond-Mangalpore and to rectify the lines in consultation with the Executive Engineer, PHE Kargil.

Deputy Commissioner, Haji Gulzar Hussain, District Superintending Engineer PWD, J.K Sharma, concerned Executive Engineers of PHE, I&FC, Electric M&RE and Mechanical Division among other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
