JAMMU, JULY 7: Deputy Commissioner Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting to finalize the arrangements for Independence Day celebrations here at a meeting attended by senior functionaries of line departments.   
The meeting was attended by ADDC Suraiya Jabeen, ADCs Kanta Devi,   Arun Manhas, SSP Security Ashok Kumar other officers from district administration, besides  functionaries of PWD, PHE, PDD, Municipality, SRTC, Education, Police, Health, Information, SRTC and Floriculture.
Threadbare discussion was held on the proposed arrangements for the function like seating, barricading, drinking water and power supply, sanitation, first- aid, security, transport, traffic regulations, illumination of designated buildings and refreshment to students participating in the National function.
It was decided in the meeting that the day would start with playing of Shehnai Vadan from 5.00 AM at stipulated places by Information Department followed by flag hoisting by VIP at Parade Ground Jammu and march past by the contingents of District Police, NCC, CRPF, schools and  various educational institutions. Cultural programmes, skits and physical display by school students would also be presented.
The DC asked the concerned officers to maintain close coordination for making effective arrangements pertaining to their departments. He stressed upon the arrangement committees to expedite the chalked out arrangement plan under close coordination to ensure completion of the process well in advance.

KARGIL, JUNE 30: Public Health Engineering (PHE) Division Kargil today held a function at Tourist Facilitation Centre Kargil to bid an affectionate farewell to Executive Engineer PHE Division Kargil Er. Sadiq Ali, who attained superannuation after serving the Department for almost three decades.
Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali, Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive Councillors of LAHDC Kargil including Advocate Mohammad Aamir and Aga Syed Hassan Armaan Mousavi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, staff Members of PHE Department were present on the occasion.
Chairman LC and CEC LAHDC Kargil while highlighting the services of Er. Sadiq Ali said that the officer has rendered his services efficiently, dedicatedly and honestly. They wished the retiring engineer a prosperous and joyful post-retirement life.
DC Kargil described Er. Sadiq as an honest and hard worker who always did his work diligently.
The officers and staff of PHE Division Kargil wished the retiring engineer a happy and prosperous post-retirement life. They also highly appreciated the services of the Er. Ali which he rendered for the department.
On the occasion, the Chairman LC, CEC LAHDC Kargil, Deputy Commissioner presented a copper plate, copper cauldron and a Khatak to Er. Sadiq Ali as a token of appreciation for his services for the department.

SAMBA, JUNE 30: Deputy Commissioner S Rajinder Singh Tara conducted extensive tour of Samba town with a team of officers of various departments to take on the spot stock of service delivery including availability of essentials, medicines, supply of drinking water, power etc.
Deputy Commissioner passed directions to PHE and PDD departments to closely monitor the water and power supply to avoid inconvenience to the general public.
 The DDC further directed EO Municipality to remove polythene   and de silt all drains to prevent water logging.
           He also met public and listened to their grievances and assured timely redressal of the same.
         The officers’ team included SSP Anil Magotra, Xens of PDD, PHE, EO Municipal Committee, district officers of various departments and field functionaries.

JAMMU, JUNE 02: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today said that the government is focused on development of infrastructure to provide to best amenities to people of all regions.  
The Minister was addressing a gathering after inaugurating office of AEE PHE Sub Division, RS Pura.
Minister said that the government is working on creation of better infrastructure for the employees and people, adding that various projects have been taken up under different sectors. He said that newly constructed complex is equipped with all required facilities. He said that congenial atmosphere in complex would also help in improving the working condition and increasing the efficacy of the employees.
The Minister said that the focus is being laid on the infrastructural development in all the sectors. He said that various micro and mega projects have been initiated and completed while work on others is underway.
‘The Government is committed to provide modern amenities to the common masses’, Minister said and added that  providing safe drinking water to every village is one of the prime agendas of present dispensation .
The Minister directed the concerned to take immediate steps to augment drinking water and improvise the irrigation system in every nook and corner of the area. He further asked the concerned officers to complete all the related projects in a time bound manner.

Rs 35 cr to be spent on mega project in first phase
SRINAGAR, MAY 31: Government will soon set up an underground fish aquarium and aqua park at Botanical Garden Srinagar at a cost of Rs 100 crore with an aim to provide another place of leisure and knowledge for locals and tourists alike.
This was stated by the Minister of State for Forest, PHE, I&FC and Fisheries Mir Zahoor Ahmad, while chairing first meeting of officers convened to discuss the measures for setting up the prestigious project.
The Minister said that this would be a first of its kind modern Fish Aquarium in Kashmir Valley on the banks of Dal Lake which will promote pisciculture besides providing an added tourist attraction in the vicinity of the Dal Lake, Mughal Gardens and world-famous Tulip Garden in the foothills of Zabarwan Mountain.
The Minister said that fish aquarium will be set up underground near Botanical Garden and on the surface, a beautiful aqua park will also be set up. He said that an amount of Rs 35.00 crore will be spent on the project in the first phase. He said that it will be a centrally heated aquarium to withstand extreme low temperature during the harsh winter.
The Minister said the aquarium, once completed, will not only provide employment opportunities to local youth but will also generate huge revenue for the State. He also directed the authorities to conduct a visit of the site and start work to obtain no objection certificates from the concerned departments before the start of ground work.
The Director Fisheries, P. N. Pandita gave a detailed presentation about the setting up of aquarium and Aqua Park. He apprised the meeting that the area being green belt, it was decided to build the aquarium entirely underground so that the environment is not affected.
Commissioner/Secretary Fisheries, R K Bhagat, Secretary Floriculture, Talat Parvez, Director Fisheries P.NPandita, Director Floriculture MathooraMasoom and senior officers of concerned departments attended the meeting.

KUPWARA, MAY 28: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir today visited Pathran, Kundiyan and Mandian areas of Keran block to take first-hand appraisal of amenities provided and issues faced by the people of the area and to take on the ground stock of various ongoing developmental works being executed by different agencies including PHE, PDD, I &FC, R&B and others.
 The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by Executive Engineer PHE, I &FC, R&B, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer and various field functionaries.
DC interacted with the local people, offered the empathetic hearing to their immediate concerns and assured them assistance from the district administration. He directed the concerned departments to ensure availability of essential commodities for the people of Keran without any delay or excuse and requested the people to communicate their demands through their representatives for early redressal. 
DC inspected many bridges inter-connecting various areas of Keran. He issued on spot direction to the officials of R&B to complete the road from Datt Bridge to Keran and to ensure completion of Friends Bridge connecting Keran market to Keran Balla by the end of this year.
 While interacting with the locals, people in unison raised demand for the supply of electricity for a more convenient transaction of daily chores. DC directed the PDD to mobilize men and machinery on war footing basis for installation of requisite infrastructure so that Keran like other areas realizes the benefits of around the clock power supply towards the conclusion of this year.
DC visited many schools in the area to assess the need for improving or upgrading infrastructure and providing adequate staff. He directed the concerned Block Development Officer to ensure fencing around the building and leveling of the ground of Girls Middle School Keran.
DC while interacting with the people associated with Livestock sector, directed the Animal and Sheep Husbandry department to provide free vaccination for livestock of the area that has not been administered vaccination for ENT and F&M disease during the current year.
DC also inspected the work done by I&FC in the area. Officials of the department accompanied by the local people identified various works including four Kuls (streams) namely Keran-Dudi Kul, Patroo Kul, Keran Payeen Kul and Keran Bala Kul. These kuls have been desilted, widened, retaining walls have been constructed, pipes of various dimensions have been laid to ensure proper utilization of water and avoid overflow during heavy rains or inclement weather. These works have been executed at an estimated cost of 66.22 lacs.  Besides, I&FC department has put in place proper infrastructure around KasherKhata Nallah at Mundian and also on Kishenganag River to prevent floods and thereby loss of life and property at an estimated cost of 88.40 lacs. 
Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction for the works executed, commitments implemented and facilities ensured by all the departments including Health for the Keran. He said that the need of the hour is to cooperate and coordinate with each other so that the dream of uplifting and empowering each and every person in the district is realized.

JAMMU, MAY 28: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today directed the executing agency to restart the work of Auto Mechanically Operated Gated Barrage Project at Tawi within 7 days or face legal action as permitted under the contract. 
The Minister, while speaking at a meeting of the senior functionaries of the concerned department and representatives of executing agency M/s GVR Infra Projects Limited, the Minister said that if the executing agency failed to resume the construction work, its contract will be terminated and the balance work will be re-tendered to some another company.
While reviewing the status of the Barrage project, the Minister strictly directed the concerned authorities to ensure that gates are put in place. Choudhary underlined the need for adopting professional approach while executing the developmental projects and cautioned the concerned departments against delay in meeting the deadline.
The Minister instructed the officers of the concerned agencies to restart the work and expedite the pace of construction of allied works including Gates and Guide Wall. He directed the officials of the department to seize the machinery of the company, in case the executing agency fails to adhere to the directions.
It is pertinent to mention that the project is comprised of thirty-one gates, eleven in Wadi Tawi and twenty in Nikki Tawi, which was approved at an estimated cost of Rs 70 Crore. The project will help in upgrading the irrigation facilities and the upcoming artificial lake is said to add to the beauty of the Tawi River front.

Minister stresses for maintenance of CSC’s for proper usage, sustainability
SRINAGAR, MAY 28: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Rehman Veeri has asked the department to construct Community Sanitary Complex (CSC) in educational, health institutions and at tourist places under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). This effort would help in achieving universal sanitation coverage.
The Minister said this while chairing a meeting convened to discuss the action plan in this regard with the senior officers of Education, RDD, Health, Tourism and PHE department.
          Secretary Education Farooq Shah, Secretary RDD Sheetal Nanda, Director SBM-G M N Sheikh, Mission Director JKSRLM Bakshi Javid, Additional Secretary Tourism Tassaduq Hussain, Additional Secretary PHE Pankaj Kumar Sharma and other concerned officers attended the meeting.
          Addressing the officers, the Minister said that SBM-G has a provision of constructing community sanitary complex in places where footfall of people is high. He said these facilities need to be properly managed for its better usage. The CSC fosters the cognitive development of healthy sanitation practices in the community, he added.
          “Community sanitary complexes need to be constructed in educational, health institutions and at popular tourist places so that students, people visiting health institutions and tourist would be provided separate toilet facilities for men and women”, the Minister added.
Veeri asked the Secretary Education to provide a list of schools to the Rural Development department where this kind of facility be constructed. He said that priority should be given to the Girls High Secondary/High Schools.
He also asked for ensuring proper upkeep of this facility after construction by the school management so that the asset created must be utilized for long period.
Under ODF Plus activities, the Minister asked Secretary Education to issue necessary directions to the schools for carrying out activities for behavioral change among the community through school going children’s. He also asked for exploring possibilities to introduce short lecture on health and sanitation during morning assembly.
With regard to creation of such facility at health institutions in the state, the Minister directed the Health department to come up with the details of such institutions especially PHCs/CHCs.
“It has been felt that outdoor patients and their attendants during their visit to the health institutions feel inconvenience for the need of toilet facilities. All such institutions should be identified and details be provided to RD department so that CSC’s be constructed for the benefit of people”, the Minister said.
          It was further informed in the meeting that community sanitary complexes have been constructed at every tourist destination but most of them are defunct and invariably closed.
Asking for ensuring proper upkeep of such facility at the tourist places, the Minister directed the Tourism department to outsource manpower so that these facilities are maintained for its proper utilization.
“Assets have been created by the government at all such places but the need is to adopt a mechanism to ensure maintenance of all such facilities”, Veeri added.
Tourism department was also asked for proving details of tourist destinations required CSC’s.
          RDD Minister also asked the department to look out the possibilities to create such facility at Anganwari centres being run by Social Welfare department besides constructing CSC’s at sports stadiums for the benefit of sportspersons.
          The Minister also asked for keeping in mind availability of water supply line before finalizing the site for construction of CSC as it is essential for its upkeep. He asked the PHE department to provide water connection to all these CSC once they get completed.
          Veeri asked all the concerned departments to take the ownership and maintenance of the CSC’s after their handing over for usage for their sustainability.
          Secretary RDD Sheetal Nanda informed the meeting about the issue which was raised by the female employees during a recently held interaction with Chief Minister regarding separate toilet facilities in the government offices.
The Minister asked the RD department to explore the possibilities in this regard so that the issue raised by female employees is redressed.

SHOPIAN, MAY 26: Various deputations from the  Wachi constituency today met Member Legislative Assembly Aijaz Ahmad Mir here today at Mini Secretariat Arhama Shopian in presence of District Development Commissioner Gazanfar Ali and SSP Shopian. .
Chief Planning Officer, Executive Engineer PHE, Assistant Director FCS&CA and other concerned officers and officials of the district were also present on the occasion.
The deputations put forth various demands regarding power supply, drinking water, macadamization and repair of roads, education, and irrigation sector before the MLA.
On the occasion, Mir gave the deputations a patient hearing and assured redressal of their genuine issues in a time-bound manner. He also sought the cooperation of people in the better public delivery system.
The legislator directed officers to gear up and ensure that the difficulties of the people are addressed and resolved at the earliest. He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure availability of all essential commodities and services in the constituency during the holy month of Ramadan.

Rs. 1.66 cr Dewatering Pump Station Malroo to be commissioned soon
SRINAGAR, May 26: Minister of State for PHE, I&FC, Forests, Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries Mir Zahoor Ahmad, Saturday, conducted an extensive tour of Batamaloo Constituency to take stock of working of irrigation and drinking water facilities.
 MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Chief Engineer, I&FC M M Shahnawaz, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and a team of senior officers of PHE and I&FC departments accompanied the Minister.
The Minister inspected the progress of construction work on Dewatering Pump Station at Malroo. He was apprised that this much-needed Pump Station has been completed at a cost of Rs 1.66 crore and will be commissioned soon. After commissioning the Pump Station, a vast populated area will be saved from water logging due to rains.
While inspecting Lift Irrigation Pump at Takanwari the Minister was apprised that the Pump is not sufficient for catering to the requirements of the local population. In this regard, the Minister directed the Irrigation Department to set up an additional Pump Station at a nearby place and ensure that the farmers may not face problems for irrigating their land and vegetable fields.
At Takanwari, the Minister said that the problems with local Water Supply Scheme will be resolved soon and in this regard, Rs 8 lakh has been released and another Rs 8 lakh were released by MLA Batamaloo out of his CDF.
MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh announced to provide Rs 10.00 lakhs for setting up of the additional Pump Station at Bakshi Pora, out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF). The Minister instructed the authorities to start work immediately.
While interacting with the people, the locals of the area projected their demands and sought their early redressal. The Minister assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed on priority.
MLA Noor Mohammad Sheikh also interacted with the people and highlighted the activities of the present government. He appealed the people to come forward and take advantage of the welfare schemes launched by the state and central government.

SRINAGAR, MAY 16: Minister for Agriculture Muhammad Khalil Bandh today convened a meeting to review arrangements being put in place for Ramadhan in Pulwama district.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Forest, PHE/ I&FC Zahoor Ahmed Mir, MLA Tral Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Ex MLA Shopian Abdul RazakZawoora.
The meeting was also attended by District Development Commissioner Pulwama Ghulam Muhammad Dar, SSP Pulwama, Muhammad Aslam Choudhary and other district and sectoral officers.
Threadbare discussions were held on various issues which include law and order, security, traffic, uninterrupted power supply, adequate drinking water, medicare facilities and sanitation for ensuing holy month.
Stressing for ensuring availability of essential commodities to the people on prescribed rates during Ramadhan, Bandh asked the officers of all Departments to work in a synergized manner, so that people do not face any inconvenience. He said that a fool-proof mechanism should be put in place to provide better amenities to people during Ramadan.
The Minister was informed that 38, 830 quintals of Rice, 1734 quintals of sugar, 560 quintals of flour due for the month of May 2018 have been already distributed in the district.
Besides 12000 quintals of Rice are being distributed shortly in advance out of due stock of June 2018, the meeting was informed.
Regarding the availability of cooking gas in the district, the meeting was informed that 22, 795 gas cylinders have been distributed.
During the meeting, the Minister directed the Animal Husbandry department to provide poultry at subsidized rates to the consumers in the holy month.
He also asked the FCSSA department to provide 10 kgs of sugar to the main mosques of the district free of cost.
Bandh also asked the PHE and PDD department to ensure uninterrupted water and power supply in the district.
“From Iftaar to Sehri uninterrupted power supply should be ensured in all areas,” he told PDD officials.
He also asked the SSP Pulwama to ensure complete synergy with other security agencies so that they don’t face any inconvenience during the holy month of Ramadhan.
The Agriculture Minister also directed the ARTO Pulwama to ensure availability of transport facilities during the evening hours.

JAMMU, MAY 16: Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta said that the government is working under a well-knit strategy to ensure overall development of the state.
Kavinder Gupta said this during his tour to Gandhi Nagar and its adjoining areas to launch various development works.  He laid foundation stone for development works to be executed through his constituency Development Fund (CDF), here today.
The works included up-gradation of roads from Nanak Nagar to Sanjay Nagar, link road to Dudadhari temple Shastri Nagar, link road via Nanak Nagar to Main road Shastri Nagar. The up-gradation works is being executed by Public Works (R&B) Department at an estimated cost of Rs 2.50 Crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister said that present government has started a new phase of development in the state especially in under developed areas. He said that number of road macadamization and up-gradation works have been taken up with special thrust on the use of quality material.
Highlighting the achievements of present dispensation in PWD,PHE and other sectors, Kavinder Gupta apprised that 480 KM road length has been upgraded, 250 transformers and 11000 new electric poles have been installed in Gandhi Nagar constituency in the past three years besides more projects are in pipeline.
He further said that a string of development projects including cable car project from Bahu Fort to Mahamaya Park have been initiated by the government to attract tourists in the state.
The people informed Deputy Chief Minister about their grievances and problems pertaining to up-gradation of power infrastructure, sanitation and extension of existing nallah in the area.
Responding to the demands put forth by the locals regarding various development issues in the area, the Deputy Chief Minister assured that all their genuine demands would be looked into on priority and directed the concerned officials to take all necessary measures to address their issues at the earliest.
The Deputy CM was accompanied by engineers of PWD (R&B) and senior officers of concerned department.

UDHAMPUR, MAY 11: District Development Commissioner, Ravinder Kumar today convened a meeting here to review the functioning of control room established by the PHE department to deal with the grievances regarding the provision of water supply during the current summer season in different areas of the district.
Addressing the meeting, DDC directed the department to ensure the potable water supply availability in the areas facing shortage of the drinking water supply.
He asked the concerned to ensure that all resources are mobilized to provide relief to people during the summer season. 
It was also given out that helplines have been constituted aiming at addressing the water scarcity issues in the district whereby people can lodge their complaints. The helpline numbers are  9419161398, 9419161148 for PHE Sub Division Udhampur and 9419161837, 9419190625 for PHE Sub Division Ramnagar and 9419150400, 9419169298 for PHE Sub Division Chenani.
Among others, Chief Planning Officer, Ashok Khajuria, SE Hydraulic Circle, Ashwani Anand, Executive Engineer PHE Division Ashok Sharma, Executive Engineer, PHE Mechanical Division, Sanjay Sharma, AD Planning, Darshan Kumar besides other officers of concerned departments were present in the meeting.

Directs fast tracking of renovation work on canals
JAMMU, MAY 09: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today reviewed desilting and repair works of irrigation canals and khuls and progress on various projects under Public Health Engineering (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) sectors here at a high level meeting.
The Minister took detailed appraisal of the ongoing works, development projects and the de-silting work on Ranbir Canal, Ravi Tawi Irrigation Canal (RTIC) and other Canals of Jammu Division to ensure discharge of water to the tail end.
He directed the officers of the concerned departments to work in tandem and ensure completion of the desilting and repairing works in a time bound manner.
Sham Choudhary instructed the officers to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects and complete the same within shortest possible time. He also instructed to regularize all drinking water supply connections and repair all defunct tube wells in Jammu province.
Directing the senior functionaries to personally monitor the ongoing works, the Minister asked to fast track repair and renovation of damaged canals to avoid inconvenience to farmers during the current season. He also exhorted upon the officers to redouble their efforts and work for the betterment of the people, adding that any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated.
Besides, senior functionaries, the meeting were attended by SEs and XEns.

ANANTNAG, APRIL 10: The Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik today visited Kabamarg and Ziyarat-e-Baba HyderReshi shrines to take stock of the arrangements being put in place for forthcoming Me’raj-ul-Alam and its Friday following.
During his visit to Kabamarg Larkipora, the DDC directed the Tourism Department for making necessary repairs and renovations and completion of public convenience points at the shrine. He also emphasized upon the officers of FCS&CA, PHE, and to ensure supply of all essentials during festive days.
He also directed Health Department to set up Medical Aid Camp near the shrine.
While inspecting the arrangements at Baba Rishi shrine, the DDC stressed for repairs of the main entrance Gate and wall tiling of paths and proper sanitation of the area. He also directed the concerned officers for making all necessary arrangements for the devotees at the venue during the Me’raj days.
The DDC was accompanied by officers and Engineers of PDD, PHE, FCS&CA, Municipality and Health.

JAMMU, APRIL 5: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Choudhary today took stock of the pace of progress on on-going de-silting and cleanliness of main Ranbir Canal and its Distributory-I.
The Minister along with a team of concerned engineers visited several locations including, Beli Charana, Rajinder Park, Shakti Nagar Paloura, Patoli and Muthi   along the Ranbir canal, besides Kanha Chak, Hira Chak, Gajansoo, Galwadian, Pola Chak and Marh areas on the Distributory-I to review the progress of works.
At Shakti Nagar, the Minister took serious view of the pile of construction material by locals on the bank of canal and directed the officials to take immediate steps to remove the same immediately and issue a warning to the people indulging in such unlawful practise. He said such acts are punishable under law and the department should proceeds against the violators who try to damage the government assets. He also appealed the locals to help in maintaining sanitation along canals and do not put garbage in it.  
Taking serious note of tardy pace of de-silting at Patoli and Paloura, Choudhary directed the concerned to work in double shift and complete the remaining work within stipulated time frame that is before April 11 so that the water in the canal is released on Baisakhi eve.
The Minister asked the concerned for identifying the places and formulation of Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for setting-up of Lift Irrigation Schemes and digging of tube wells to ensure supply of irrigation water at the tail end of the canals.  A number of projects stand prepared and submitted under Prime Minister Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) to meet the requirements of irrigation to every field in the State, he added.

Srinagar to get facelift with aesthetically pleasing projects
SRINAGAR, MARCH 17: Minister of Public Works Naeem Akhtar today reviewed progress on various developmental works undergoing in Srinagar and stressed on the need to fine-tune the projects in according with cultural and historical aesthetics of Kashmir.
He was speaking at the meeting that was attended by Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Asiea Naqash, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan, DC Srinagar, Director Tourism, Commissioner SMC, VC LAWDA, Chief Engineer R&B and PHE and other officers.
The Minister was informed about the status of various projects including Jehangir Chowk Flyover, Mehjoor Nagar Bridge, Grade separator, Maternity Hospital and other mega projects. 
 The Minister directed the officials to take extreme care in respect of every modern project. He said that there is a dire need of preserving the architectural heritage of Kashmir. He directed the SMC and various executing agencies to ensure that facade of every building is designed in such a way that it depicts unique Kashmiri character. He also directed officials to ensure removal of encroachments and illegal vendors from roads.
 The Minister said that this year one of our thrust areas will be to make Kashmir green and clean. He said that landscape division of R&B along with other departments have already started a huge drive for planting different varieties of native and foreign ornamental trees on roadsides. The Minister was informed that in the Achan area 10,000 plants have been planted and similar drive has been undertaken on all important roads.
 The Minister said that space under the under-construction flyover needs to be developed concurrently for various purposes according to needs. He also issued directions to speed up work on TRC grade separator and Mehjoor Nagar Bridge so that major bottlenecks in traffic will be taken care of. He also reviewed the arrangements made for the forthcoming TAAI convention and asked officials to ensure beautification drive to start on IG road and other spots.  
 Taking a strong view of frequent digging of roads, the Minister directed the PDD to consult R&B before taking any such work in hand.
