Oct 24: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy today inaugurated a new
scheme to provide biscuits to students of the government primary schools here.
According to an official release, the students already being provided with milk
in the morning under the Rajiv Gandhi breakfast scheme. Now the Bengaluru based
Sri Sathyasai Annapoorna voluntary organization came forward to supply biscuits
to the students. Mr Narayanasamy distributed the biscuits at Iyyankuttippalayam
government primary school. In the first phase, the scheme is being introduced
for the students of the primary schools in Puducherry and Karaikal. As many as
19,377 students--14462 in Puducherry and 4915 in Karaikal will be benefited
from this scheme. Besides the Chief Minister, Education Minister, legislators,
officials of the Administration and representatives of the voluntary
organization participated in the function. UNI
