Srinagar,
Oct 18: Curfew-like restrictions, imposed in some parts of Civil Lines in
this summer capital on Tuesday to prevent law and order problem, were lifted on
Wednesday. The restrictions in Maisuma, strong hold of Jammu and Kashmir
Liberation Front (JKLF), were on Tuesday imposed following massive clashes
between security forces and demonstrators, who were protesting against a braid
chopping incident in the area on Monday. Official sources told UNI that
restrictions have been lifted from Maisuma following improvement in the
situation though security forces remained deployed in strength to maintain law
and order. All roads leading to Maisuma and adjoining localities, which were
closed on Tuesday with barbed wire, have been opened and traffic was plying
normally since early Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, shops and business
establishments reopened at Gaw Kadal, Maisuma, Red cross road, Madina Chowk and
adjoining areas after remaining closed on Tuesday due to restrictions. UNI
