Directs officers to revive pristine Glory of 'city forest Poonch'
POONCH OCTOBER 27 : Referring
to vast potential of tourism in the district for generating employment besides
giving a fillip to local economic and social development, Deputy
Commissioner, Tariq Ahmad Zargar, today called for making coordinated efforts to tap
this potential optimally.
He was speaking during a meeting with officers of various departments
including tourism, fisheries, social forestry, R&B, rural development
department and floriculture department.
Addressing the meeting, the DC said that the administration has decided
to revive the pristine glory of City" Forest Poonch" in the first
phase, an already established place of tourism located on left bank of Poonch
river.
DC directed the R&B department to ensure proper maintenance of the
road approaching city forest where as CEO tourism was tasked to repair existing
huts and viewpoints besides creating new view points at suitable places.
Department of fisheries was asked to repair and revive fish ponds in
city forest areas while department of Forests was asked to provide timber so
that related works are completed on immediate basis.
The DC informed that in second phase efforts will be put in to develop
all potential tourist places like Nabni, Thanpeer, Jabbi (Arai), Loran, Gali
Maidan, Noorpur with particular focus on creating eco tourism facilities at
other places including Naddian at Sawijjian.
On the occasion, the DC constituted a joint team of officers under the
supervision of ADDC Poonch to visit Nadian Sawjian to see the scope of
facilities to be created and submit feasibility report so that DPRs can be
prepared accordingly.
