BARAMULLA, OCTOBER 30: District Tuberculosis Centre Baramulla today launched Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course (DOTS) programme during a day-long workshop on ‘Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme’ in which Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Nasir Ahmad Naqash was the chief guest.
Chief Medical officer Baramulla, Dr Bashir Ahmad Chalkoo, District
Immunization officer, District Tuberculosis officer, Doctors and other
concerned officials were present on the occasion.
Under the programme, TB patients will now get free DOTS medicine for
the entire week. It was said that the patients can enquire the requisite consultations on
a toll-free number that was also launched on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC describes the disease as a matter of
concern, especially for elderly people. He assured every possible support from
the district administration to ensure the eradication of the deadly disease in
the district.
He said holding such programmes raises awareness among the masses and
should be continued in future also.
