SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 21: Deputy Director, National Archives of
India (NAI), New Delhi, Dr Tassaduq Hussain today visited State Archives
Repository at Lal Mandi here and apprised the attendance of new techniques
introduced in the National Archives of India in the fields of archival
management, appraisal of records, weeding out of records and digitization of
records using microfilming.

Director assured that the National Museum will provide all possible financial
assistance to the Department of Archives for development of
archives repositories in the state.
Pertinently, financial aid for the State has been raised from Rs. 10
lac to Rs. 50 lac.
Deputy Director National Archives, while emphasizing the importance of
preserving records, called for transferring records of all government
departments in the State to the Department of Archives in order that their
preservation is ensured.
He appreciated the Department for holding archival exhibitions,
heritage walks and workshops in its efforts to make the Museum a hub of
knowledge.
Director, Archives Archaeology and Museums, Mohammad Shafi Zahid, also
spoke on the occasion and highlighted the efforts of the Department in the
preservation of repositories of the State.
