KATHUA, OCTOBER 04: A district Level “Kala Utsav
competition” was organised by Education department under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha
Abhiyan (RMSA) here today at Rajiv Gandhi College of Education.
The competition was held in various performing arts including Music,
Theatre, Dance and Visual Arts.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua Ramesh Kumar was the chief guest.
In his address, the DC said that the competition is an attempt to
preserve the rich cultural heritage of state and country. He said
by getting such opportunities the potential students of Kathua district would be able to participate in national
level competitions. He also urged the teachers and student community to give
more opportunity to the child with special needs.
“Last year
a team from GHSS Billawar secured first position at the state and third
position at the national level kala utsav in music by presenting Dogri Lok
Sangeet ‘Geetru’,” he said adding this shows the district has no dearth of talent. He called
upon young artists to work with more zeal and dedication and bring laurels to
the district as well as to the state. He said district administration would
make more endeavours to provide platform to the budding artists ‘so that
they can carry forward the legacy of our rich culture.’
Earlier CEO Kathua informed that the contestants of today’s event
are winners of competitions organised at inter- school and inter- zone levels
earlier.
