Srinagar,
Oct 10: Asserting that environment is directly affected by the rural
activities, chairman of Environment Committee of state Legislative Assembly
Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said the work under Swach Bharat Abhiyaan Scheme
(SBAS) should be expedited to reach the target of building toilet blocks,
particularly in rural and far-flung areas. Mr Tarigami, who is MLA from Kulgam,
has sought the status of implementation of SBAS, in different districts of the
state, from the officials concerned. He said the work should be expedited to
reach the target of building toilet blocks, particularly in rural areas. Mr
Tarigami stressed that environment is directly affected by the rural activities
hence rural sanitation is a major scheme. He opined that people are still
facing a lot of problems mostly in far-flung areas, so steps should be taken to
work in coordination at these place so that the hygiene is taken care of. Mr
Tarigami has also urged to employ block development officers to implement the
scheme in every district. He urged that awareness camps should be held to work
towards better hygiene and rural development has a great role to play in that.
