New
Delhi, Oct 30: The Defence Ministry is examining the report submitted by
one-man judicial committee on One Rank One Pension (OROP), official sources
said. The Centre had appointed the committee under the Chairmanship of retired
Chief Justice of Patna High Court Justice L Narasimha Reddy who submitted its
report to the then Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in November last year.
“Justice Reddy had met the defence minister last week and discussed about the
report,” said the sources. Before submitting its report, the judicial committee
had held hearings at around 20 cities in the country and held discussions with
ex-servicemen and their associations. The agitating veterans who were on
protest against not meeting their demands at Jantar Mantar, have been evicted
by the police and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) after the National Green
Tribunal last month directed the Delhi government to immediately stop all
protests and assembly of people in the area. The venue turned into a chaos
centre after the veterans refused to shift from the protest site. Some of them
were injured in the scuffle. UNI
