ITBP celebrates 56th Raising Day

New Delhi, Oct 24: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) celebrated its 56th Raising Day at their Greater Noida campus on Tuesday. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was the guest of honour, who took the salute at the march past. Contingents led by Mahila contingent, commandos, skiing, mountaineering, anti-Naxal operations and different other frontier contingents showcased all aspects of the force. The ITBP for the first time showcased a mechanised column at the Raising Day that helps them to serve under harsh weather conditions along the Himalayan border. DG ITBP, R K Pachnanda said, “This is for the first time in the history of our force that we are raising and deploying a mechanised column of power vehicles and machines to speedily mobilise troops along the Sino-Indian border". The mechanised column includes a series of all-terrain vehicle (ATV), sports utility vehicle (SUV) and snow scooters which can operate even when the temperature plunges to minus 50 degree Celsius in areas such as Ladakh, which is known as a cold desert.
