New Delhi, Oct 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed his government’s firm commitment to bring urban facilities to villages by 2022, and said it was lack of good governance, not resources that was hampering development. "Good governance is a must for the development of villages and my government is trying to develop all the villages by 2022," the PM said inaugurating the birth centenary celebrations of social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh here. 'Just talking about development of villages or having plans for that was not enough. Initiatives have to be completed on time,' Mr Modi said. "Villages have enough resources to develop but lack of good governance is hampering the effort," he said. Mr Modi said integrating all the people of the country from both cities and villages in the development journey was a must. Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh devoted their lives towards the betterment of the nation and Nanaji devoted himself towards rural development of making Indian villages self-reliant, free from poverty, Mr Modi said.
