MLA Bandipora distributes load carriers among fishermen

BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 07: Member Legislative Assembly from Bandipora Constituency, Usman Majeed today handed over keys of special load carriers with ice boxes to four registered fishermen during a function here today.

The function was organized by Assistant Director Fisheries Bandipora under Newly introduced Blue Revolution Scheme, under which load carriers are being provided on 80 percent subsidy to the beneficiaries for carrying fish from Wullar lake to market sites.

Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that the scheme has been launched to revive the fisheries sector and to induce interest of youth of the fishermen community towards the sector. He said the selection of the beneficiaries was made on basis of draw of lots.

He stressed upon the beneficiaries to make the best use of these load carriers. He said that fisheries is a big income source of the fishermen community compromising 2256 registered fishermen in the district.
