JAMMU, OCTOBER 31: The Presentation Convent Senior
Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, today held its annual sports meet in which
Divisional Commissioner, Dr. M K Bhandari was the chief guest.
The programme was titled AD PACEM..... Towards Peace and was envisioned
keeping in mind the need for World Peace today.
Speaking on the occasion, Div Com lauded the performance of the students
and congratulated the School for meeting high standards of excellence in
Scholastic and Co-Scholastic arenas.
Highlighting the need to encourage active participation in sports
activities at schools, Div Com said that developing sports and physical
activities promotes a sense of belongingness, integration and unity among
people especially the youth. Besides increasing the level of fitness, sports
also inculcating the discipline and competitiveness among children and play a
significant role in building character, Dr Bhandari asserted. He further said
that sports make one resilient and mentally tough.
Appreciating the school for providing opportunity to the students to
bring out the sports person in them, Dr Bhandari wished the budding
sportspersons a great success in future.
The
students of Classes V to X presented colourful dances, Aerobics, Drills and
Martial Arts while the students of the Senior Secondary presented the March
Past.
The School
Band presented a mesmerizing sight with its leader Palvasha Khanam with her
dexterous moves of the staff that she bore majestically.
Meritorious students of Class XII of the session 2016-17 were also
honoured with appreciation certificates for their outstanding performance in
CBSE Examinations, 2017. The School also awarded Scholarships to deserving
students.
Rt. Rev. Ivan Pereira, Bishop, Jammu Srinagar Diocese was the Guest of
Honour while Principal Hema Barretto besides senior functionaries and staff members
of the school along with students and their parents were also present on the
occasion
