Train service resumes on Srinagar-Banihal route after two days

Srinagar, Oct 31: Train service resumed after remaining suspended for two days for security reasons in south Kashmir, where protests erupted after two minors were crushed to death by a train in Pulwama district on Sunday.
  However, train service on Srinagar-Badgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north Kashmir continued without any disruption.
  We have resumed train service on Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region, a senior railway official told UNI on Tuesday. All trains in the Kashmir valley are running as per schedule since early this morning, he said.
  Trains running between Banihal in Jammu region and Srinagar were suspended on Sunday at around 1530 hrs for security reasons following massive protests after two minors were crushed to death by a train in Pulwama district. Train service remain suspended yesterday also for security reasons. Thousands of passengers were disappointed after they were informed that train service has been suspended in south Kashmir on Monday.  We are witnessing heavy rush on Saturdays and Mondays, he said.
  During separatist strike calls and encounters near railway tracks, train service in the valley is being suspended for security reasons. However, this was for the first time train service was suspended due to protests after accident. Last year train service remained suspended for six months due to summer unrest in the valley.
