Thane, Oct 28: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi has 50 per cent contribution in the victory of Narendra Modi in the 2014 general elections in the country, Maharashtra Navnirman chief Raj Thackeray has said. As voters were not in favour of Rahul Gandhi in the last Lok Sabha elections, Mr Modi won the election, he said on Friday. Mr Thackeray was interacting with mediapersons in Kalyan-Dombivili where he had gone for some party work. In Modi's victory, 15 per cent work was done by social media, 10-20 per cent work by BJP-and other party workers and even RSS which has a good share in the same. Rest was Modi factor, he said. This might be repeated in Gujarat in the forthcoming Assembly polls, he said. The trend is being indicated from the feelers and reports that come out of the state might prove right and the ruling party is likely to lose the elections. The visuals being circulated of the meetings of Modi shows many people quitting the meeting in groups which had never happened in the past, he said. From this itself one gets the message he said. He also blamed the Election Commission for the inordinate delay in the announcement of election dates in Gujarat. Actually, the Election Commission and statutory bodies should work independently but it does not happen here, he pointed out. He also blamed the infiltration of the Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, and now Rohingyas and the growth in the slum colonies and the resultant crimes to the administration and the political parties who use them as vote banks.
