Agartala, Oct 27: As many as 800 delegates of Rotary International including 650 from Bangladesh assembled here today to hold thread bear discussion on international friendship and brotherhood for holistic development among South Asia titled – Sethubandhan (bridging gap). Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Bangladesh Railway Minister Mujibul Haque Mujib are scheduled to address the assembly in the evening for strengthening relationship with South Asian countries especially with Bangladesh. “Six major topics like mother and child health, mission for literate world, fellowship and better human relations will be discussed by the internationally acclaimed speakers in two days sessions,” said joint convenor of the event Baharul Islam Majumdar. Besides, a peace rally will be held tomorrow morning in the city with the international delegates. As part of the programme, Rotary Club of Agartala City has distributed water purifier among 10 orphanages and old age homes, and 20 backward schools of Agartala, he said. Islam pointed out that the theme of the conference is to bridge the gap of friendship between India and Bangladesh with their neighbours by promoting peace and mitigate division among cultures. UNI
