Srinagar,
Oct 3: In view of a suspected fidayeen attack near Srinagar international
airport, the security forces on Tuesday conducted random searches of vehicles
and two-wheelers coming into the city from other districts at various places.
Three fidayeen of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and a BSF jawan were killed and two
security personnel injured in the encounter. Security forces and state police
personnel have established a naka at Hyderpora on the airport road, less than
half-a-kilometer from the encounter site. They were searching passenger and
other vehicles, besides two wheelers, which were coming into the city from
Budgam. Officials said documents and identification cards of the people were
being thoroughly checking, before allowing them into Srinagar. Security forces
have also established checkpoints at various places on the bypass. They said
searches were being conducted to foil any attempt by militants to smuggle in
arms and ammunition into the city and carry out attacks on security force
installations. Additional security forces have been deployed in other areas,
including civil lines and uptown. UNI
