New
Delhi, Oct 26: The murder case of a 34-year-old woman took an interesting
turn on Thursday, when her husband confessed to his involvement in the killing.
According to DCP North Delhi Milind Mahadeo Dumbere, accused Pankaj Mehra (39)
confessed during interrogation that he shot his wife in the car and later made
a story out of nowhere, to mislead police. The accused said he wanted to get
rid of Priya, since his other wife was building pressure on him. He also said
that he had borrowed Rs 40 lakh from a Sonipat-based moneylender and was unable
to pay him back. The accused tried to kill two birds with one arrow, by
shooting his wife and later claiming that it was a handiwork of the lender, who
wanted to kill him for not repaying the amount. He had also opened a restaurant
in north Delhi last year, but had to close it down since he incurred heavy
losses, the DCP added. UNI
