| Inspects Water Supply Schemes, irrigation projects; orders suspension of AEE, JE PHE Kargil for dereliction of duties |
KARGIL, OCTOBER 25 – On his 2 day tour to district
Kargil, Minister for PHE, I&FC Sham Lal Choudhary today conducted extensive
tour of the district and inspected various Water Supply Schemes and irrigation,
flood protection works.
The Minister was accompanied by Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat
Ali, Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor Kargil Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Executive
Councilor for RD Aga Syed Hassan Armaan Mosavi, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Haji
Gulzar Hussain, Superintending Engineer PWD Kargil J K Sharma, SDM Sankoo
Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani, Executive Engineers, AEEs, AEs, JEs besides officers of
the district administration.
At Kargil town, the Minister inspected Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Kargil
Town and Baroo Colony Phase-I. It was informed to the Minister that the project
was funded under PMNRF at an estimated cost of Rs 694.00 lakh and the scheme
stands completed and charged/functional however, some minor distribution is
needed which will be completed soon.
Sham Choudhary asked the concerned to ensure adequate supply of drinking
water to the inhabitants of the area so as to cater their demand.
The Minister later visited Water Supply Scheme (WSS) Gond Mangalpore in
Sankoo Sub Division and inspected the project which was completed at an cost of
Rs 298.00 lakh having capacity of 113200 ltr. Here, locals also interacted with
the Minister and raised their grievances regarding shortage of drinking water
supply from the scheme in the area.
Taking strong notice of the issue, the Minister personally enquired from
the people of the area about water supply from the said scheme. Expressing
dissatisfaction over the improper functioning of the scheme, the Minister
ordered suspension of concerned Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) and Junior
Engineer (JE) for dereliction of duties.
He also
asked concerned Executive Engineer to submit full expenditure report of the
project to his office.
At Saliskote, the Minister was welcomed by Executive Councilor for Rural
Development, Agha Sayeed Hassan Arman Musavi. He projected the demand for the
allotment of funds for restoration and repair of Saliskote Khul. The Minister
directed the concerned to submit a DPR for the said project so that funds would
be arranged.
The Minister also interacted with public delegations at Saliskote,
Naqpochu, Baltibaho and adjoining villages who also projected their demands
pertaining to drinking water supply and irrigation projects in their respective
areas.
Responding to the demands of the locals, Sham Choudhary asked the
concerned officers to prepare DPR for completion of works on Karpokhar canal
and also assured them for early redressal of their issues.
The Minister while directing the senior officers for personally
monitoring all the ongoing projects asked them to adopt proactive approach in
execution and planning of the projects so that they can be completed in given
time frame and benefiting the people of the area.
He said that government is keen to provide all basic amenities to the
people of the state and many projects have been initiated in this regard. After
sanctioning of the projects by the government, it is the responsibility of the
officers on the ground to execute them and taking them to completion stage, he
added.
He stressed upon the officers to regularly visit the PHE installations
and to ensure proper functioning of the schemes. All the machinery and
equipments needs to remain functional in this hilly region to cater the
drinking water needs of the people especially during winter season, the
Minister said.
