SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 26: Deputy
Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that the sports is imperative for
the overall development of human persona and youth should be actively involving
themselves in different sports and outdoor activities.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the concluding function of
Jammu and Kashmir State Gymnastic Championship 2017.
Lauding the efforts of the organizers for organizing such events, the
Deputy Chief Minister said that the State has huge potential to compete at national
and international levels. He said the State Government already undertaken a
comprehensive program for augmenting the sports infrastructure in rural as well
as urban areas, besides also organizing national and international events in
which sports persons of international repute participated.
Deputy Chief Minister said that these types of events provide the
aspiring sport persons the requisite platform to hone their skills. He said
that these events also provide the requisite exposure to the budding talent.
Dr. Singh
said that the youth of the state have already made their mark at various
national and international fora and the need of the hour is to provide ample
opportunities to display their skills. He said that events are being organized
at school and college level so that the youth will get attracted towards the
sports activities.
Deputy Chief Minister said that the educational institutes and parents
of the youth have to play an active role to encourage them to make a career out
of sports.
Dr. Singh also gave away awards among the winners as well as runner-ups.
Arjun Award winner, Kripali Singh was also present on the occasion.
