Committee for formulating Action Plan to curb menace of pollution |
SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 24: Legislative
Assembly Committee on Environment met today at Legislative Assembly under the chairmanship
of Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami to discuss environment challenges and steps needed
to mitigate the problems resulting due to environmental degradation.
Legislators Bashir Ahmad Dar, Usmaan Abdul Majeed, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat,
Davinder Kumar Manyal, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Abdul Rahim Rather
and Anjum Fazli attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to make the
committee more dynamic and result oriented.
The committee discussed measures to restore ecological balance of the
environment.
It was decided that issues related to the environment and its allied
departments will be discussed in its next meeting and thereafter the committee
will formulate action plan to curb the menace of pollution.
Tarigami also took note of various schemes of rural development and
directed the officials to adopt the norms being undertaken under Swachh Bharat
Mission while constructing community Sanitary Complexes.
He also directed officials to complete the pending works under MNREGA
within a stipulated time frame.
Officials from Rural Development department informed the chairman about
the progress of work undertaken under MNREGA and the steps being taken by
department to protect environment while implementing the scheme, Swachh Bharat
Mission and various other schemes.
Commissioner, Director, Additional Secretary and other officials from
Rural Development Department besides officials from Legislative Assembly were
present in the meeting.
