Ten injured in Imphal blast

Imphal, Oct 14: Ten persons were injured in a bomb blast at a mela site at Tera Lukram Leirak, Imphal West last night. All the injured were rushed to hospital. Police today said the condition of two persons was critical. A team of police personnel investigated into the blast site and found that the blast occurred due to explosion of a grenade. It was suspected that the grenade was lobbed by some unknown persons from a moving vehicle. Police said people were arranging for a mela at the ground when the blast occurred. All those injured were from the neighbourhood who were watching the preparations. The mela was supposed to start within the next few days. Meanwhile, police beefed up security today as militant groups have imposed total shut down on Oct 15 in Manipur and Tripura for alleged annexation of the two former Princely states. The total shut down will be from the midnight of October 14 to 6 pm of October 15, 2017 said a joint statement issued by N Oken, Chairman, Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), Laba Meitei, President, Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and D. Yamrok, President National Liberation Front of Twipra (NLFT).
