Three phase urban local bodies polls in UP announced

Lucknow, Oct 27: After a delay of around five months, Uttar Pradesh State Election Commission on Friday announced notification for the three tier urban local bodies polls next month. The polling for 16 Nagar Nigam, 198 Nagar Palika and 438 Nagar panchatat would be held in three phases on November 22, 26 and 29 with counting of votes on December 1, said State Election Commissioner (SEC) SK Agarwal on Friday. With this announcement, model code of conduct has been imposed in the state. There are 3.32 crore voters to exercise their franchise at 36,269 polling booths.
