POONCH, OCTOBER 31: In
connection with observance of vigilance awareness week in every part of nation,
a vigilance awareness program on the theme “My vision corruption free India”“ was held
here today.
ADC, Dr. Basharat Hussain, was the chief guest on the occasion. Prominent
citizens, media persons and officers from various government departments
participated in the program.
Speaking on the occasion, experts from vigilance organization Deputy SP
Gardari Lal said that the purpose of holding such awareness programs is to
educate the public at large about the corruption related practices and
sensitize them about their role in controlling such practices by reporting it
at right time and before appropriate authority. He said that it acts like a
mass movement of involving people in saying no to corruption adding that
organizing such programs every year is a part of multi pronged approach of the
vigilance organization to encourage all stake holders to collectively
participate in fight against corruption and to raise public awareness regarding
the existence, causes and gravity of threats posed by this menace in a society.
He also highlighted various punitive, preventive and participatory vigilance
measures to check corruption.
On the occasion, ADC said that corruption has been one of the major
obstacles to economic, political and social progress of the country adding that
all stake holders should maintain highest standard of integrity & honesty
at all levels. He further said that citizens need to work together to eradicate
corruption.
