Lucknow,
Oct 31: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will depart on
Wednesday on a four-day visit to Mauritius. This would be his second foreign
tour after the three-day visit to Myanmar in August. During his visit, which is
part of the 183rd Indian Arrival Day function in Mauritius, the Chief Minister
will address the Pravasi Bhartiya Diwas, a mega event focussing on seeking
investors, a senior state government official said on Tuesday. Mr Adityanath
will meet Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth and NRIs settled in the
island nation to woo investors, said state principal secretary (Tourism)
Avanish Awasthi, who will be accompanying the Chief Minister. He is also likely
to invite people of Indian origin to participate in the NRI Diwas, scheduled to
be held in Lucknow in March next year. Mr Adityanath had recently met
representatives of more than two dozen American companies, who expressed their
desire to invest in projects in Uttar Pradesh. The state had recently announced
the Industrial Investment & Employment Promotion Policy to boost industrial
climate in the state and to infuse competitive spirit in order to attract
international and national investments in the industrial sector. Officials said
the Chief Minister will leave for Mumbai tonight and, after overnight halt,
will depart for Mauritius early in the morning on Wednesday. He will return to
Lucknow on November 4. Several senior government officials are accompanying the
CM on this trip. Every year, the Indian Arrival Day is organised on a grand
scale in Mauritius where 68 per cent of the population is of Indian-origin
people, 49 per cent of which are Hindus. Almost 40 per cent of the country’s
population has roots in Bihar. The first group of Indian labourers from
Gorakhpur, Bahraich and Faizabad landed in Mauritius on November 2, 1834 and,
in four years, their number swelled to 25,000. UNI
