3-tier mechanism put in place by DSEK for Career Counseling

Given vast career opportunities available nowadays, we have to help students make right choice at right time: Dr Itoo

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 21: In a significant decision, the Director School Education Kashmir, Dr G N Itoo today ordered constitution of Career Counseling Cells in all the Higher Secondary Schools of Kashmir division.

The Director School Education Kashmir has also asked all the Chief Education Officers and the Heads of Institutions to start organizing career counseling programmes with immediate effect.

“A three-tier career counseling mechanism is being put in place in the Education Department to guide the students about the vast career opportunities available in varied fields,” said Dr Itoo adding that the career counseling will involve mentoring at the institution level, at the district level and at the provincial level.

He said at the institution level the career counseling will be coordinated by the heads of the respective institutions, at the district level it will be coordinated by the Chief Education Officers of the concerned districts and at the provincial level such programmes will be organized and monitored by the Directorate of School Education.

“As varied career options are available to the students nowadays, they need to be sensitized and apprised about the right career choice to be made at the right time,” said Dr Itoo adding that experts in career counseling will be roped in to help the students make the right and demand-driven career choice.

Dr Itoo said a career calendar will be notified by all the heads of institutions and the CEOs for the benefit of the students.
