DLSA Reasi holds awareness camp

REASI, NOVEMBER 09: District Legal Services Authority under the Chairmanship of S.R.Gandhi, Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Reasi today celebrated National Legal Services Day today in District Court Complex Reasi.

On the occasion a Legal Awareness Camp cum Lok Adalat was held. The camp was attended  by V.S. Manhas, Sub-Judge Chief Judicial Magistrate, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Reasi, K. K. Dubey, P.D.Singh President Bar Association Reasi, R.K.Sharma, V.K.Sharma, Shalinder Bardwaj, advocates, bar members , Para Legal Volunteers and  a large number of  respectable persons.

Chairman District Legal Services Authority appraised the gathering about rights of mentally ill persons, powers and duties of police officers in respect of mentally ill persons, provisions regarding appointing guardian of mentally ill persons and appointment of manager for management of property of mentally ill persons and duties of guardian and manager in such cases.

Chairman District Legal Services Authrity, S.R.Gandhi also made people aware about Lok-Adalats, pre litigation system  and different schemes launched by NALSA and SLSA for the benefit of people and lauded the role of  National Legal Services Authority and State Legal Services Authority for their efforts to provide justice on wheels  at the door steps of  litigants. He assured the public of instant legal services to poor, senior citizens, women and children and mentally disabled persons. He appealed the people to come forward and avail maximum benefit of such schemes.

On the occasion ten days outreach campaign of Legal Services  Authorities was started and PLVs and retainer lawyers were sent to far flung areas of the district for making public aware about the various functions and activities of Legal Services Authorities.

 On the occasion a Lok Adalat was also held in which 128 cases were taken up and  25  cases were decided .
