BARAMULLA, NOVEMBER 15: A 3-day
awareness-cum-exhibition camp organized by J&K Khadi
and Village Industries Board (KVIB) Baramulla was today inaugurated
by MLA Gulmarg Mohammad Abbas Wani in presence of Member K&VIB Masarat Kar
at Tangmarg.
The aim of the workshop is to educate
job-seeking young and talented people to understand the potential of this
sector thereby making meaningful contributions in enhancing the importance of
traditional arts and crafts of the State like paper machie, carpet and shawl
weaving, wood carving etc.
The exhibition witnessed participation of
officers of various departments besides a large gathering of people.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Gulmarg
impressed upon conducting such awareness camps more often so that people get to
adopt this sector for gainful employment. He said Government under the
leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is putting in every effort to
revive and recreate the glory of this particular sector which represents the
innovative nature of culture and tradition of our State.
Masarat Kar, Member K&VIB speaking on the
occasion said that the board is going to introduce various programmes for
skilling youth towards self-employment and economic independence.
The member and officers
later visited and inspected various stalls displaying products prepared by
talented and skilled youth associated with the department.
