Budgam, Nov 21: Senior separatist leader and president Anjuman Shari Shian Aga Syed Hasan has been invited for the annual International Religious Awareness Conference by the Iran government.
However, a Hurriyat spokesperson said that Aga Syed will not be able to able to attend the conference to be held in Tehran as he his passport has not been reviewed by the authorities.
He said Aga Syed received an invitation by Dr Ali Akbar Willayati on behalf of the Iran government to participate in annual International Religious Awareness Conference to be held at the national capital Tehran.
“Aga Syed’s passport expired in April this month. But, despite applying for a fresh passport, a fresh travel document has not been issued for the separatist leader,” he added. The Conference is being organized every year and Islamic scholars from around the globe participate in it.
The spokesperson condemned the government move not to issue passport in Aga Syed’s favour. “It is irony that religious freedom is being choked for keeping a different political ideology,” he alleged. UNI
