13: Minister of State for Transport and Public Works (R&B), Sunil Kumar
Sharma today inaugurated a week long “Road safety week” event here today.
ARTO briefed the
Minister about the activities being carried out in the district regarding road
safety and the measures being adopted to motivate transporters follow the
guidelines issued by the department from time to time. He stressed upon the
Drivers, Tour & travel operators and union leaders to ensure strict
adherence to traffic rules to avoid any mishap.
The Minister, while
speaking on the occasion, stressed upon the drivers to follow and obey traffic
rules properly and advised them to drive their vehicles within prescribed speed
limit as Violating Traffic rules and negligent driving can lead to serious
mishaps.
The Minister asked
the district administration and Transport department to deal strictly with the
traffic violators as their fault can cause havoc to several precious lives and
property as well.
Later, a prize
distribution ceremony was held to honour the drivers having good record in
their driving carrier.
The Minister also
distributed Helmets among the students driving two wheelers and advised them to
drive carefully for their own safety and safety of others.
The Minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Angrez Singh
Rana, SSP Abrar Choudhary besides other officers.
