Srinagar, Nov 21: All water bodies, including ponds and khuls, were frozen in Ladakh region while chilly weather conditions intensified in Kashmir valley where sub-zero temperature was recorded during the night.
      However, sun greeted people this morning though the intensity of warmth was very low due to ice-cold winds in the valley, where world famous ski resort of Gulmarg was coldest at minus 5.6 degree while night temperature recorded in Srinagar was minus 1.7 degree, coldest so far.
      The night chill will further intensify in the region due to clear skies as the weather will remain dry during the next 24 hours.
      Almost all water bodies, including ponds, khuls and some rivers, froze as the mercury witnessed further drop in the Ladakh region, where two district headquarters of Leh and Kargil recorded coldest night of the season so far.
      A Met department spokesperson told UNI that the mercury further dipped about 3 degree from yesterday and settled at minus 10.2 degree at Leh in Ladakh region. At border town of Kargil, temperature dipped and settled at minus 6.6 degree, against minus 6.2 degree.
      Even though there was some improvement in the night temperature at Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, it was still the place in Kashmir valley. Against minus 6.2 degree recorded yesterday, the night temperature at the ski resort was minus 5.6 degree, over 4 notches below normal.
      After witnessing the coldest night of the season so far, sun greeted people in the summer capital, Srinagar though the intensity of warmth was missing following ice-cold winds. Against 0.3 degree recorded yesterday, the night temperature at Srinagar was minus 1.7 degree, about 3 notches below normal.
      World famous health resort of Pahalgam, about 100 km from here in south Kashmir, also witnessed a marginal dip in the night temperature as the mercury plunged and settled at 2.7 degree, against 2.5 degree recorded yesterday. 
      The night temperature at Qazigund, gateway to the valley, tourist resort of Kukernag and Kupwara in north Kashmir also dipped and settled at minus 0.8 degree, minus 0.1 degree and minus 2.9 degree respectively. UNI
