Delhi, Nov 7: Expressing concern over increasing level of pollution in
Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday asked Education Minister
Manish Sisodia to close schools for a few days.
'Considering high level of pollution, I have requested Manish Sisodia, Education Minister, to consider closing schools for a few days," Mr Kejriwal tweeted. The Chief Minister also said all should come together to find a solution to this problem as during this time every year, Delhi becomes a gas chamber for almost a month. Notably, Environment Minister Imran Hussain had written letters to the adjoining states on August urging them to take steps to check crop burning, which is considered to be one of the major causes of increasing air pollution. Last week, Lt Governor Anil Baijal held a meeting at Raj Niwas to review the status of measures taken by various agencies to combat air pollution. In the meeting, Mr Baijal had emphasised on water sprinkling with mechanical sweeping and directed the agencies concerned to penalise all construction agencies in case of any violation of dust control norms.
