New Delhi, Nov 6: Minister of State for Tourism, Electronics and IT, KJ Alphons Kannanthanam filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat on Monday in Jaipur, which had fallen vacant after M Venkaiah Naidu was elected as the country's Vice President.
During the filing of nomination, Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasudhara Raje, Ministers and MLAs were also present. The scrutiny of the nomination will take place on November 7 and the last date for withdrawal is 9. Election will be held on November 16. Mr Alphons left IAS service in 2006 with eight years still left. He became an MLA from Kanjirappally in Kottayam district of Kerala. Mr Alphons reached Jaipur on Sunday morning where he was received at the airport by state BJP chief Ashok Parnami and several Ministers of the Ms Raje's cabinet along with large number of party workers.
