Delhi, Nov 6: Delhiites woke up to a city under a blanket of denser smog
on Monday, with the air quality deteriorating further to 'Very Poor' levels. A dense layer of particulate matter almost blocked the Sun light in the morning
hours, leaving the people with a choking feeling. There was not much
improvement even further into the day, with the Sun only very feebly
visible. According to the data provided by the System of Air Quality and Weather
Forecasting And Research (SAFAR), air quality in areas like Pitampura, Delhi
University, Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, Ayanagar and Airport remained in Very
Poor category, while Pusa Road recorded Poor and other areas fared slightly
better, standing at Moderate level on Monday.
Even the NCR regions like Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon registered 'Poor' air quality, while some parts even went to the level of 'Severe,' the worst level in terms of air quality, something which Delhi registered on October 20, a day after Diwali. Shallow fog also engulfed parts of the national capital in the wee hours, while the Meteorological Department said the condition was likely to continue for the next few days. The maximum temperature in the capital was likely to settle around 31 degree Celsius, while the minimum stood at 16 degree C, two notches above normal. UNI
